PHM at the UNGA78

PHM position on health issues in the 78th UN General Assembly

The People's Health Movement -PHM- will participate in the United Nations 78th General Assembly Meeting, which will be held from 20th to 22nd September in New York this year. PHM will set its position at UNGA78 in three of the health related agenda items: Universal Health Coverage -UHC-; Tuberculosis -TB-  and Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response (PPPR).

Prior to UNGA78 the PHM is circulating its own position papers in response to the “drafts” circulated by the UN on these three agendas. With this process we basically plan to hold a conversation around these topics ahead of the United Nations High Level Meetings -UNHLM-. You can find the PHM comments on the PHM WHO tracker which tracks the developments in the Global Health Governance in WHO and various other forums. UNGA78 developments can be found in this UNGA 78 link-

Below are the detailed PHM commentaries (in English and Español) which have been developed with inputs from PHM activists and allies across many countries. The drafts on UHC and TB also benefited from discussions in the Health Systems Thematic Circle where 27 PHM activists from 12 countries participated including from Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Timor Leste, Philippines, Tunisia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Belgium and three other countries.
